The Big Wild Read is a wonderful way to get children reading and using their local library. Once the kids get into the habit, you'll soon see the benefits.
This website has been specially set up to complement The Big Wild Read.
The games and activities included here are all based around the environment or reading, and they're all designed with kids in mind. Your children can find out about ways to help the environment, and they can find out about some of their favourite authors. But they can also have a whole load of fun doing it. Remember, reading books is like a work-out for the imagination - and like any kind of exercise, it's addictive!
For more information about The Big Wild Read and some tips to help your children complete The Summer Reading Challenge™, click on this downloadable PDF. Remember, there's plenty going on for adults, children and families at your local library throughout the year – not just in the summer – so check it out. Books are just the beginning...
Lots of libraries are offering activities as part of The Big Wild Read.
You can download some activity sheets here but there may be more on offer at your local library. Please ask - your librarian will be only too happy to help.
